Sumsun - Leaving You

REBLOGGED CAUSE I'M LAZY AS FUCK

Leaving Records, a subsidiary of the Low End Theory-affiliated Alpha Pup label, has just announced the signing of Sumsun, a synth-steeped duo from North Carolina.
Judson Rogers' crackly, sun-damaged production places the new act firmly within the burbling chillwave movement alongside Memory Tapes, Neon Indian and L.A.'s own Active Child, people who may very well subsist on an exclusive diet of VHS tape and Crystal Pepsi. Sumsun singer Beverly Russell solidifies the early '90s vibe with vocals that seem to check the R&B ladies of yore -- think Toni Braxton or Faith Evans.
Nostalgia or no, it's a great sound, which West Coast Sound is happy to share. The free digital single below, "Leaving You," will get a physical release soon, backed with a remix from Leaving Records founder Matthewdavid. Rumor has it a full-length called Lake Life is on the way as well.
